About Edie
Edie Cay writes steamy feminist historical romance. Her debut, A LADY’S REVENGE won the Golden Leaf Best First Book (2020), as well as the Indie Next Generation Book Award (2020). The second in her series, THE BOXER AND THE BLACKSMITH won the Hearts Through History Legends Award, A Man for All Reason in 2019 as an unpublished manuscript, and then went on to win the Best Indie Book Award (2021). The third book, A LADY'S FINDER was a finalist for a Lambda Award, the most prestigious LGBTQ+ literary award in the world. A VISCOUNT’S VENGEANCE published in 2023 and is currently longlisted for the Chatelaine Award.
Previously, she has published short stories, poems, and non-fiction in small presses. Eons ago, she worked for the prestigious Alaska Quarterly Review. Since then, she has co-written and starred in several short films and documentaries from MadLaw Media, including Big 5 Dive about scuba diving in the Great Lakes, Bouncing the Well, a short documentary on rappelling into a natural well in Alabama, and How to Be Sexy, a fictional short about confidence and self-worth.
She obtained dual BAs in Creative Writing and in Music from Cal State East Bay, and her MFA in Creative Writing from University of Alaska Anchorage. She has been a professional musician, bookstore employee, and a healthcare worker. The final installment of her Regency historical series When the Blood Is Up, titled A LADY’S RESILIENCE, is out now.
She has participated in several anthologies, including Unlocked, The Grand Mistletoe Assembly, and Beneath the Midwinter Moon.
Her next series will be about Victorian women alpinists called The Ladies Alpine Society, out in August 2, 2024 from Dragonblade Publishing.
She is a founding member of the historical fiction collective The Paper Lantern Writers. There, she writes blogs, conducts interviews with amazing historical fiction authors and helps edit and publish their anthologies. She gives presentations at conferences around the world on the history of women’s boxing and other aspects of Regency culture and writing.
